|1/29/2009 - Security - Anonymous 911 Calls Are Honored|
|When calling 911, the calling person can request that they remain anonymous and the request will be honored.|
Per the Palm Beach County Crime Prevention Coordinator, Deputy Sheriff Karl Martin, "If someone calls from their home phone requesting service, we get the name address and phone number on our phone screen. If the caller wishes to remain anonymous, but would like a Deputy Sheriff to respond, an incident is created in our CAD system, without the callers name, and a Deputy Sheriff is sent to the location. Furthermore, according to state statute, 365.171(15), information regarding people calling 9-1-1 is confidential and is even exempt from the sunshine laws. Only authorized law enforcement personnel have access to these records."
So when making a 911 call, if you want to remain anonymous, just tell that to the person taking the call.
