8/29/2010 - Direct TV Available as Option for Condos

The Condominium Association has entered into an agreement with Access Media 3 to provide Direct TV as an optional service, in addition to the currently available Comcast service, for condominium residents. Click here for a 9 meg color brochure.

Questions and Answers

Q1 - Will Comcast service still be available?

A1 – Yes. There will be no change in the Comcast service. Basic Comcast service will continue to be available and paid for out of your monthly maintenance fees. In addition you will be able to continue subscribing to optional Comcast offerings such as their digital package and their internet package.

Q2 - What Direct TV channels and packages will be available and what will the prices be?

A2 - The channels and packages along with their prices are defined on the Direct TV web site at www.directv.com. Look under TV packages on the top menu.

Note: Pay attention to both the promotional rates as well as the ongoing rates. A good way to do this is to click on “Select” for an offering you are interested in. Then in the next screen you will see both ongoing rate as well as what specials are in effect and for how long.

Note: Do not sign up for an offering while on the Direct TV web site as the offering for Green Cay Village Condominiums is only available through Access Media 3 at 1-866-263-3241.

Q3 – Will I be able to have Comcast basic service plus the Comcast options that I am currently subscribing to AND subscribe to the Direct TV options as well?

A3 – Yes. The Comcast and the Direct TV signals will share the same television cable wiring in your unit.

Q4 – Where will I be able to get a Direct TV HD box or a DVR?

A4 – These devices and their prices are listed on the Direct TV web site in the same place as their packages at www.directv.com. Look under TV packages on the top menu.

Note: Do not sign up for an offering while on the Direct TV web site as the offering for Green Cay Village Condominiums is only available through Access Media 3 at 1-866-263-3241.

Q5 – If I completely switch to Direct TV, will I get a reduction in my monthly maintenance fee?

A5 – No. Your monthly maintenance fee includes payment for a bulk rate service from Comcast and the contract with Comcast requires that all units are paid subscribers to qualify the Association to receive the bulk rate?

Q6 – Will the satellite dishes detract from the overall appearance of the property?

A6 – No. They will be mounted on the ground , not the buildings.

Q7 – I lease from the Developer, will I be able to subscribe for Direct TV service?

A7 – Yes. You will be able to subscribe for Direct TV service the same way as you can subscribe for additional Comcast services.

Q8 – I lease from a homeowner, will I be able to subscribe for Direct TV service?

A8 – Probably. You should be able to subscribe for Direct TV service the same way as you can subscribe for additional Comcast services. If in doubt, check with your landlord.

Q9 – Why did the Association contract to provide a Direct TV option?

A9 – To provide an option for improved service, particularly to sports fans who would like access to the NFL, NASCAR, MLB, NBA, and NHL sports channels that are not available from Comcast for example the 14 weekly NFL out of market games that are EXCLUSIVELY on DIRECTV. Also many people subscribe to DIRECTV for their international programming choices.

Q10 – Can I have my own satellite dish installed by Direct TV?

A10 – Probably not. The condo rules and regulations do not permit homeowners to install satellite dishes on the common property. However, homeowners on the first floor may install a satellite dish on their patio floor as this area is considered limited common property. In this case an unobstructed view of the southwest sky is required and an Architectural Control Board application must first be submitted and approved.

Q11- Are there plans to also make Direct TV service available to townhome and apartments residents.

A11 – No.

Q12 – How do I sign up or get more information on the Direct TV offering.

A12 – Access Media 3 will be providing more information to the condominium residents via door hangers and a mailing to all condominium residents.

To signup and schedule your installation, call the Access Media 3 office 1-866-263-3241.
