|People who live in my building smoke in the hallways and the smoke is getting into my unit. What can be done to fix this problem?|
Per our condo docs, "Smoking is prohibited in the breezeways, hallways, and stairwells of the condominium buildings and within the school bus stop depot. However, smoking is permitted in all other areas including within the individual units, on the patios of the individual units, and outdoors."
As for enforcement, violators who are reported to the Property Manager will be sent a violation notice and if they are reported again they will be fined $25.00 each time they are reported.
In addition, if the violators are not homeowners, but are instead leasing their unit from the Developer or another homeowner, they are in violation of their lease agreement and repeated violations may result in their being evicted or not having their lease renewed.
That said, you need to report the person or the unit number to the Property Manager and they will take it from there.
