5/16/2011 - Small Alligator in Lake - Update #2

Freddie has been relocated to a place where he will be able to grow up to be big and strong like his Mommy and Daddy.

Previously on 5/6/2011

Plans are being made to relocate Freddie. In the meantime, another smaller Alligator, about 2 years old and 2 feet long has joined Freddie and we hope to be able to relocate both of them at the same time.

As to where Freddie and his new found friend came from, my guess is that they came over land from the L29 canal that runs behind the townhomes. And no, we are not going to put Freddie and friend in the L29 canal - they deserve a better home than that!

In the meantime, residents are advised to keep pets and small children away from the lake.

More updates to follow.

Previously on 4/29/2011

There is a small, four year old, 4 1/2 feet long alligator in the lake.

Property Management has contacted Florida Fish and Wildlife to have it removed and since it is probably over 4 feet long it will be harvested (killed).

In the meantime, residents are advised to keep pets and small children away from the lake.

Also if you see Freddie, tell him that his Mom and Dad at Green Cay Wetlands are worried sick about him and that they love him very much and want him to come home where it's safe to play and grow up to be a big Alligator just like his Daddy.

An update will be posted when Freddie is "removed".
