|New "Alligators May Be Present" signs have been added to the sign posts at each end of the lake. |
While there are no alligators in the lake at this time, we live in Florida and there are alligators in the wetlands and canals around us. So out of an abundance of caution, Property Management had the signs installed.
That said, if you see any alligators in the lake, please let Property Management know and they will contact Florida Fish and Wildlife and have it removed if it is over four feet in length.
Note: Generally, alligators less than 4 feet in length are not large enough to be dangerous unless handled. They eat small fish, frogs, and other small animals. Typically, they are not large enough to be a threat to even small pets. Thus, the mere presence of a small alligator should not be a cause for concern and Florida Fish and Wildlife will not remove these alligators unless they are in a location that is not natural e.g. a swimming pool or garage.
