6/29/2012 - Alligator In Lake - Update 1

The Alligator in the lake has been removed. As for the details, all I care to say is that it measured 7 feet 5 inches in length.

Previously on 6/25/2012

A large Alligator (over 4 feet long) was spotted in the lake today.

Property Management has contacted Florida Fish and Wildlife to have it removed since it is over 4 feet long.

In the meantime, residents are advised to keep pets and small children away from the lake.

Note: Generally, alligators less than 4 feet in length are not large enough to be dangerous unless handled. They eat small fish, frogs, and other small animals. Typically, they are not large enough to be a threat to even small pets. Thus, the mere presence of a small alligator should not be a cause for concern and Florida Fish and Wildlife will not remove these alligators unless they are in a location that is not natural e.g. a swimming pool or garage.
