|The government web site calculator currently gives misleading information when you click on the link "See Plans and Prices in Your Area". |
Hopefully the calculator will be fixed along with the other fixes planed for by the end of November. But in the meantime, if you want to know what your options and prices are, check out this page on the ValuePenguin web site.
Note 1: The problem with the government web site calculator results from only offering the choice of two age choices - 49 or under and 50 or older. If you pick 49 or under, the calculator assumes you are 27 years old and if you pick 50 or older, the calculator assumes you are 50 years old. So unless you are exactly 27 or 50, the prices shown will be less than the real prices for you. In addition, the government calculator does not calculate any tax credits you might be eligible for nor does it show the increased cost of policies for smokers.
Note 2: When you actually Apply On Line on the government web site you should get the right answers. But enrolling and logging in so far has been problematic. So until the problems are fixed, if you want to know what your options and prices are, check out this page on the ValuePenguin web site.
