|A Bobcat has been sighted in Green Cay Village. To me this is not a surprise as Bobcats are frequently seen at Green Cay Wetlands, which is less than a mile a way from here. |
In fact, a few Winters ago a pair of Bobcats at Green Cay Wetlands gave birth to four cubs that were a feature attraction for visiting photographers . And in case you are not familiar with Green Cay Wetlands, it is not a zoo so animals can come and go as they please.

Unlike Alligators which are considered dangerous if larger than 4 feet in length and removed from residential areas by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Service, Bobcats are not considered dangerous unless they demonstrate viscous behavior and thus are not normally removed by the state.
That said, we are blessed to live in an area that has so much farmland, wetlands, and wildlife. And with this blessing comes a caution to not leave small children and pets unattended, particularly around the lake and along the canal that borders the north side of the property.
