11/27/2007 - Security - Neighborhood Watch Meeting #1

The purpose of the meeting was to take the first steps in establishing Green Cay Village as a Neighborhood Watch Community.

The attendees included Tammy Tomlinson, the GCV Property Manager, Deputy Rodney Hudson from the Sheriff's Crime Prevention Unit, and eight Green Cay Village residents.

Given the small number of residents at the meeting, it was not possible to formally start a Neighborhood Watch Program for GCV e.g. put a telephone tree in place.

But Deputy Rodney Hudson did present an overview of the program as well as the year-to-date crime statistics for GCV.

And the following action items were agreed to.

1. Deputy Rodney Hudson will conduct a vulnerability assessment of GCV including a review of typical townhome, condominium, and apartment units and a day and night assessment of the of the property. Results of the assessment along with recommended action items will be published on this web site. Peter Schulz will schedule the assessment with Deputy Hudson.

Status - Green Cay Village Security Assessment posted on web site.

2. Deputy Rodney Hudson will give a Power Point presentation on the Neighbor Watch Program at a community social event sometime in January 2008. Tammy and Liz Guadagno, the chairperson of the GCV Social Committee will take the lead in making this happen.

In closing, Deputy Rodney Hudson stressed the importance of being nosey neighbors and of reporting ALL suspicious activity to the Sheriff.
