8/24/2016 - Meds, Cash & Gasoline

The bare minimum for getting through the first few days after a direct hit from a hurricane is meds, cash, and gasoline.

Yes you will need water and some food. But what you will really need is your meds because you can't count on your drugstore to be open for business. And you will need cash because, while Publix will be open and running on their backup generators, they may not be able to process debit/credit card transactions. And you will need gasoline because not all stations have backup power and the lines will be fierce at those that do.

So now, as we head into the heart of the hurricane season, stock up on food and water, keep your scripts up-to-date and filled, put aside some cash, and never let your tank go below half full.
