|Update 4/4/2008 - One year later the Heath/Zenith wireless plug-in doorbell stopped working. I replaced it with a STI-32500 which has a greater range and appears to be better made. |
For less than $30 you can get a Heath/Zenith wireless plug-in doorbell at Home Depot. I mounted the button on the wall, as shown, with a pair of screws. But, it can also be mounted on the door, like under the peep hole, with the two-sided tape that is included.
The doorbell plugs into any outlet, but works best if it's in an outlet near the door. Tip: The codes can be changed, like garage door openers, so that each doorbell will only respond to it's button. So, if you get one of these units, I suggest you change the code to other than the default setting, to avoid having your neighbor's button ring your doorbell.
